The secrets of the fascinating world of bees will be revealed with a special beekeeping experience at St Osyth Priory. The estate is best known for its remarkable architecture and scoping parkland but it is now offering a new activity focussing on a rare encounter with its Essex Black Bees. The two hour activity will begin with a welcome drink at the impressive Darcy House on the estate before guests are suited in beekeeping attire. We know bees play a vital role in supporting biodiversity and pollinating the estate’s rich landscape but guests will also learn about the art of beekeeping from an expert guide. Then it is all aboard a tractor-trailer for a scenic ride to the apiary. Participants in this unique experience will get a fantastic hands-on session with the hives as well as getting the chance to harvest their own honeycomb and enjoy a honey tasting and honey cake at the end.
